What we doWhat type of animals do we move? What type of Animals do we Move? Well we may be called "Dogmovers" but that is not all we move. To date we have moved all sorts of dogs from poodle puppies, to working dogs, pig dogs, greyhounds and of course family pets. We have also moved cats, chooks, pigs, ducks, goats, sheep, birds, guinea pigs and lizards. We will happily transport all small domestic animals. Some domesticated farm animals such as goats and sheep will require a waybill or other documentation to be prepared by the owner / shipper prior to travel. Please check with the Department of primary Industries for further information. There are of course restrictions on the movement of some types of native and wild animals and in some cases a permit is required to be held by either the shipper, receiver or both. In these instances we would need to obtain a copy of the appropriate permits prior to travel. Some breeds of dog have now been classified as dangerous by local government departments in some areas. We are not currently aware of any restrictions on the transport of these animals. We do reserve the right to refuse to transport any animal that we consider presents a risk to ourselves, any other animals that we may be carrying or to the Public. This includes but is not limited to aggressive or unhealthy animals. Well I am glad you asked!! Dogmovers moves your animals by road. Yes it may take a bit longer than by plane, but apart from the obvious benefits to your animals health we also get to a lot of places that the airlines don't service. Look at these other benefits:
We transport the animals in our range of Vans and custom made dog floats which are air conditioned and/or specially insulated. Our vehicles have permanent built in cages to keep the animals separated and safe. The first step is to contact us for a quote, You need to tell us what sort of Dog or animal it is, How many animals and approximately how much they weigh. Where it is to be picked up from and where it is going to. Once we have given you a quote and you are happy with it, you give us the go ahead and we make it a confirmed booking. Make sure you read our terms and conditions as these form part of our transport contract. We will contact the person who is sending the dog/other animal and arrange pick up, (Usually from a designated pick up area such as a service station in the town closest to them on the main road. Door to door service is extra). We will also contact the person receiving the animal and arrange where and approximately when we will be dropping the animal off. Please note that our driver will also make contact on the day of travel to confirm the time and place and to let you know if there is any change in time due to any unforeseen issues like road closures. Click here to go to the Contact details page Ensure that your animal is healthy. Check for ticks and fleas and treat where necessary. If you have any doubts about the health of your animal you should consult your vet for advice. We do not recommend that animals be sedated for travel, if you are considering this please discuss it with us. Our driver must be informed if your animal has been sedated or has any relevant health issues. Ensure that your dog has a strong collar and that it cannot slip over the animals head. Please do not feed your animals within 6 hours of travel. Especially do not overfeed small pups prior to travel as this may cause them to experience some car sickness and discomfort early in the trip. We do feed animals through the course of the trip where appropriate. We carry on board food for dogs, puppies and cats, any other food requirements should be provided with the animal and should be discussed with the driver. You may continue to give them water prior to travel. Arrive at the drop off point a little early and walk and toilet them while you are waiting for us. If you have any paperwork that is to go with them have it in an envelope with the recipients name on it and give it to the driver. Any other items such as leads, medication, bowls etc should be put in a plastic bag or similar. We will always accept a small bag (shopping bag size or smaller) of the dogs belongings to travel with the animal. It is up to the driver to decide whether he will have room for any extra items, such as dog beds, you may want to send with the animal. Because our vehicles have built in cages some larger items simply will not fit.
